Chief Dumas started his police career with the Kankakee City Police Department in 1993 - 2006 and returned as Police Chief in May 2017

Price Dumas is currently serving as Acting Chief of Police with the City of Kankakee.  Chief Dumas started his police career with the Kankakee City Police Department in 1993.  While serving the with the Kankakee City Police Department, Chief Dumas was a Juvenile Officer, Dare Officer, School Resource Officer and worked in the Kankakee Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group (K.A.M.E.G.).  Also while Chief Dumas was employed with the City of Kankakee, he coached high school football at Bishop McNamara High School, Kankakee High School, and Olivet Nazarene University.  While at ONU the football team finished second in the NAIA Division 1 championship.  The 1998 ONU football team was inducted into the ONU Hall of Fame in October of 2016. Chief Dumas was the coach for the running backs.

In the year 2006, Chief Dumas left the Kankakee City Police Department to pursue a career with the Illinois State Police.  While with the ISP, Chief Dumas worked as a Road Trooper and Special Enforcement Team (S.E.T.).  While in the patrol unit, Chief Dumas became a Field Training Officer (F.T.O.) and a certified instructor for the Illinois State Police Field of Instruction, the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC), Domestic Violence, Juvenile, Illinois Vehicle Code (IVC).  After five years on the road Chief Dumas was assigned to the Illinois State Police Executive Protection Unit (EPU) where he served on the protection unit for former Gov. Pat Quinn.  After serving with EPU, Chief Dumas was transferred to Zone 1 Investigation and a short time later received his Special Agent status.

While working with the Kankakee City Police, Chief Dumas finished his bachelor degree at Olivet Nazarene University, achieving a Bachelor of Science in Management 2003.  Chief is also a member of the free and accepted Masons Watch City Lodge #131 Elgin, Illinois.
